Geosynthetics are polymeric materials essential in railway construction. They are used to improve the stability, durability, and performance of tracks, as well as to reduce maintenance and environmental impact. These materials perform key functions such as reinforcement, separation, filtration, drainage, and soil stabilization.

Restoration of the Francisco Morato Railway Station - Line 7 - Rubí – SP-2021, São Paulo, Brazil.
In the restoration project of the Francisco Morato Railway Station – Line 7 Rubí (SP – 2021), subgrade soils with low bearing capacity were identified, which had caused permanent deformations that compromised the stability of the existing ballast. This condition directly affected the operational safety and structural performance of the railway track. To restore the functionality of the system, subgrade improvement was carried out through the application of geosynthetics, integrating non-woven geotextile together with multiaxial rigid geogrid. This technical solution made it possible to increase the stiffness of the new ballast over the subgrade, control deformations, and ensure a more stable, safe, and durable railway platform.
